Dippy on Tour
A Natural History Adventure comes to the Ulster Museum
Dippy the Diplodocus has arrived in Belfast on his Tour from the Natural History Museum. We were asked to help National Museums Northern Ireland give Dippy a welcome fit for a giant dinosaur and encourage people to visit during his stay at the Ulster Museum.
We raised awareness of his trip on billboards and radio and got kids excited with a NI4Kids double page spread filled with dinosaur facts, a prehistoric quiz and roarsome activities.
As he is a very popular dinosaur we asked people to pre-book their free date with Dippy through a social media campaign in partnership with Cool FM.
Paulo Ross from the Cool FM breakfast show discovered giant dinosaur footprints on the beach and 'filmed some drone footage', giving viewers a heads up that Dippy had landed in Northern Ireland and looked like he was heading towards Belfast.
And then the day before the official exhibition launch, we followed up our Dippy sightings with CCTV footage which captured him having a snack through an open window of the tropical Ravine in Botanic Gardens. Cool FM's Pete Snodden saw the clip and legged it down the museum grounds to try and spot Dippy for himself, see what happened below.
Once at the exhibition you can come face to face with all 21.3 metres of Dippy, learn about the prehistoric ages and take photos of you meeting him with our 3D Facebook filters.
Dippy is available to visit until 6 January 2019, pre-book your free tickets and find out more about the exhibition here: https://www.nmni.com/whats-on/dippy-on-tour-exhibi...
