Kicking off our irregular series profiling our team at AVB is Catherine Cottney, Strategic Planner.
Catherine joined in January 2019 from short spell in Dale Farm where she spent a number of months providing analysis and insight on markets, products, competitors, customers and consumers.
From 2010 to early 2018, Catherine worked for Mintel, the global and award-winning provider of Market Research. Based in London with a remit for EMEA, she progressed from the role of Trends Analyst to European Manager of Trends – a position that included authoring many of Mintel’s expert trends analysis and predictions publications across EMEA.
A regularly featured ‘expert in her field’ Catherine has contributed frequently to BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme, and has often been featured in publications such as the Financial Times, The Independent, CNBC and Campaign.
A real asset to AV Browne and our clients, Catherine has the ability to analyse developments across multiple sectors and demographics in her sleep and identifies micro and macro trends producing actionable insight for Clients. Her current role with us includes the full strategic gamut – from research through actionable strategic insight, facilitating focus groups and pre-testing creative concepts, and evaluating activity to take learnings forward into the planning of future work.
A cultural soul, her CV also includes a Masters in English Literature (University of Glasgow, 2007), and another in Fashion Journalism (London College of Fashion, 2008). After graduation she worked firstly with ‘Handmade in Britain’ as a Marketing and Events Assistant, and then a Staff Writer and Trend Researcher for behavioural insight agency, Canvas8.
Outside of work, she and husband Alan are renovating their Victorian abode and attempting to prevent their 18 month old daughter pulling it all apart again….
